Failure and Success
Success and Failure Two Sides of the Coin.
We tend to perceive success and failure as two extremes, where success is whitely painted, and failure is black. However, the world is not always that straightforward. In between these extremities is a huge range of grey and these are the ranges upon which the majority of our development occurs. Not only are the notions of success and failure interrelated phenomena but standalone forces that define our experience, our character, and our strength.
White - Success
Success is glorified as the highest point of success. It creates awareness, pride, and the feeling of achievement. To most people, the struggle is worth it when the final results are successful. It is a reward to endurance, hard work and vision.
Achievement gives us hope and desire to achieve more.
It opens doors, where it appeared they are shut.
However, success is a deceptive thing as well. It can lead to complacency or the illusion that the journey has been made.
Real success is not necessarily a matter of awards. It is impact-based, it is based on opening doors to others by means of successes, and it is about demonstrating that the obstacles, be it social, cultural, or personal can be removed. The most significant idea of success is when it is shared, when it does not only elevate a person alone but the society.
Black - Failure
The thing is that failure is usually shunned, particularly in the setting where it can be equated with weakness. But defeat is not failure--it is an instructor.
It shows what does not work, and why.
It instills resilience particularly to those who are supposedly supposed to be tested more frequently.
It opposes the illusion of perfection and calls upon reality.
When failure is taken up, it becomes an effective means of change. It helps us to redefine our own values of value and to soldier on when the deck is against us. Most of the most successful stories are in fact characterized by not constant success, but the bravery to get up after numerous failures.
The Grey in Between
The success and failure are the scaling between the grey zone, the zone of reflection, recalibration and the silent growth.
Struggle is one of the successes that are hollow.
Also a failure that leads to learning is never in vain.
It is in the grey that there is a sense of moderation, ambition versus empathy, strength versus vulnerability.
This compromise teaches us that we should not be in the constant successes or failures. They are milestones in a lifelong process. It is the grey zone that character is born, values are tested and the silent power of perseverance established.
A Balanced Perspective
Success and failure are not our opponents, but they merge to make us what we are. The black, white, and the grey together comprise the whole image of life. To those who have been forced to struggle more to have their voices heard, the process is not only about what has been done, but also about regaining space, voice, and possibility. Each success has a burden of untold struggle, and each disappointment is the seed of future victory.
Closing Thought
Living a meaningful life does not consist in escaping failure or pursuing success in a blind manner, but in using both of them as vital colors in our life. Never are the rays of success brighter when it does not take into consideration the shades of failure, nor are the rays of failure less viscous when they are perceived to be set on the greater canvas of development. The two of them put us to mind that life is not absolute but the resolve to continue with living in the grey.
